In recent years there have been some excellent cinematic interpretations of the novel.

1995  BBC  Pride and Prejudice  6 episodes, directed by Andrew Davies, starring Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle- available on Clickview.

The Longbourn house of the Bennets is in Hertfordshire. The distance from Hertfordshire to London is approximately 26 miles. Bingley, his sisters, and Mr Darcy came to Netherfield House from London, to spend some time in the country.

London was the choice for young women to spend the social 'season' where they could participate in social events during summer.

Elizabeth and her aunt and uncle took a tour from her home in Hertfordshire to tour the Peaks district in Derbyshire, where they visited Pemberley House, believing Mr Darcy was not in residence. It was common for tourists and visitors to apply to the Head Housekeeper for permission to tour the house and grounds of the great estates.
